Review of 'The King's Speech'

'The King's Speech' is the newest british-made film starring Colin Firth, Helena Bohnam Carter and Geoffrey Rush.

Plot

The story revolves around Prince Albert's struggle with his debilitating stammer that he has had since childhood. His wife decides to employ an australian speech therapist, Lionel, whose unorthodox methods seem to aid the Prince. However, when the Prince suddenly becomes King due to his brother's abdication, he begins to rely on Lionel as a friend than a doctor.

Characterisation

Geoffrey Rush added great comedic value to the movie as Lionel, a person who believes in equality, not class systems. Helena Bohnam Carter was delightful as the 'Queen Mother' and she sounds excellent posh! And then Colin Firth, a man who still manages to look yummy even though he is fifty, performed so well, you'd actually think he had a proper stammer.

The whole film was incredibly well-acted and funny (especially the swearing scene, which I guess, would make my generation laugh). Definitely should win a few awards.

10//10
