Contentment is the ultimate nourishment...

Mmm, just had the best snooze ever! I sat on the one seater, hugging a massive great cushion. Mmmm, nom!

Anyway, I would like to bring to your attention the second advantage of 'Studentism' tonight, and that is

DISCOUNTS.

Ever since I received my student card on Tuesday, the new possibilities that have opened up to is the equivalent of opening a shiny box of treasures (I was about to put 'Pandora's Box' but I realised that was unleashing hell and demons and lava and all that kind of crap). I have already utilised the 20% discount at New Look and rather more boringly, Ryman Stationary (Owned by Theo Pathitis interestingly) but it is a rather good advantage.

I have noticed also, on Facebook Advertising, discounts for mobiles as well, with Orange, Vodafone and Virgin being the main players. However, I find it all very confusing! Should I go for an IPhone or a blackberry? But yes, I am enjoying discounts majorly!

Anyway, I shall have to have an early night tonight, for I am getting up at 6am tomorrow! Pass me the sick bucket now please, I am going to die! Plus the fact that I have work tomorrow as well, that means I will get in my house for 10.30pm! Someone is going to be very moany tomorrow!

Strangelove...

You know your inner calling is business or rather marketing, when you admire an advert so much. The Gucci 'Guilty' advert is so good, it has made me want to buy it (just starting at the low price of £34.95, Guffaw!). However, I have noticed a slight flaw in my plan and that is, I have no idea what it smells like! So what makes me want it so much? The setting sets the scene as quite dystopian (and dystopia sells apparently), Evan Rachel Wood is not only obscenely pretty but is also in 'True Blood' so kudos to her, Chris Evans is a rather yummy male lead and Friendly Fires contributes to the soundtrack with an excellent cover of Depeche Mode's 'Strangelove' which does genuinely send shivers down my spine. So, based on the advert, which also features a particularly nice car, the perfume must smell like fire, wood, petrol and a hint of Chris Evans. You can make your own mind up but I reckon this is advertising at it's best.

Also, I'd like to make a special mention to Jill Dalgleish (not that she asked for a mention or anything...) But I love her muchy!

D'awwwww...

For want of a better name...

Right now: 'House Party' - The Midnight Beast

Yesterday was an interesting day, so allow me to explain. 'Ahem'. Devon and me got up at the ungodly hour of 9.30am, yesterday morning and as Devon put it, it took us 'every fibre of our being' to get out of bed. Once, we had managed to drag ourselves from bed zombie-style, we dressed, played with Millie and then got a bus to the Town Centre. I withdrew the necessary 'wonga' out of my bank account and made a quick stop to Gregg's for a Cheese Savoury Sub, Nom! We then hopped onto the bus to The Barras and made our way into the legendary marketplace, where pirate dvd's and cd's are available at the drop of a hat!

The Barras: Neds, Stalls and black market items galore!

We made our way through the crowds of people who were selling cheap cigarettes and carpets and then (this is the part where I get over-dramatic) suddenly, this old gypsy woman grabs my arm, immediately deciding for herself that I want to buy charms from her, and says 'Come with me'. 'NO GYPSY LADY, I SHALL NOT COME WITH YOU SO YOU CAN SELL ME FOR A HERD OF CAMELS' is not my exact words but more feelings. However, it amazes me that in situations like that, I can still retain my politeness, and I replied 'No thanks'. So after that dramatic encounter, we are walking around, trying to find the psychic, contemplating the embarrassment I would experience, if the gypsy lady was the actually the one we were seeking. Luckily, it wasn't and we eventually found the lovely Petrona and her booth. Devon goes in first, and whilst I was waiting, I was chatting to people on facebook and taking a photo for this lovely blog!

An awesome experience

Devon comes out, looking rather pleased and then it was my turn. That's when the butterflies that call my stomach home start swarming. All I can say is Thank God I didn't have breakfast otherwise you wouldn't of needed a crystal ball to predict me throwing up. I can't explain why I was so nervous, I just didn't want to hear any bad stuff, the same fear I guess everyone has. The room was very dark, except for a few flickering candles, but all-in-all, it was very plain and not cluttered with crystals and other such artifacts that make the whole experience seem a bit phony. I don't want to reveal what she said because it was really deep and private but the experience was so worth it and I would definitely go back! The spookiest thing probably was that she asked me If I was looking forward to my hair cut and that she thought they were going to cut it really nice. It was only when I asked Devon had she mentioned it to the psychic and she replied 'No' that I got slightly weirded out! I know some people can be very observant but I never mentioned it once when I was around her! Spooky eh? Then we jumped on a bus again into the City Centre where we jumped off at George Square and proceeded to find a Starbucks and talk about our experience.  Then, after we walked in a couple of squares (not circles as Devon kindly pointed out!), we finally got to the hairdressers (or the James Dunn House for all you posh people!)  I musr admit, when we got in, the modern decor and the glamour of the hairdressers intimidated me. On the contrary, they were all lovely, and the sat Devon next to me so I wasn't by myself. I got my hair nicely washed with minty shampoo, however the whole experience was like being at the dentist, because as you sat down in the chair, it reclined backwards. I was inclined to open my mouth and say 'ahhhhh'. I then got my hair chopped, layered, thinned and beautified by the lovely Gillian, even though she was angry I hadn't had my hair cut in five months (woops). I finally walked out, with a bouncy new do and then we piled onto ANOTHER bus to the town centre, picked up some eyeliner, and then finally, got yet ANOTHER bus, and finally trekked the five minutes back from the bus stop to my humble abode. I had some fajitas for dinner (Nom!) and then pulled on my lovely new maxi dress and got ready for the rugby club beach party at Calderglen. Special mention to Katie, who spent fifteen minutes putting gladiator sandles on my feet!

New hairy do plus beach accessories and one sister...

The beach party was really good. I tried three different cocktails, all of them as equally disgusting as each other! I danced a lot of the night away, and met some new people which is always nice. I also risked hypothermia last night and spoke to Ellyn for about twenty minutes (She's worth it though!) and then Abby's dad kindly gave me a lift home and I quickly got changed and made my way to bedforshire!

Why is it always Vicious Circles, Why do we never hear of the 'Dodidendron of Despair'...

Hmm, I had quite an eventful day today. I got up precisely when I meant to, at 7.30am. I showered, preened and beautified myself, had an altercation with Mummy (as you do) and then got on a bus for 8.40am! I got to the town centre at 9am, and I must admit, I loved shopping at that time in the morning. Sure, you have to do the whole, drag-yourself-out-of-bed-and-walk-to-the-bathroom-like-a-zombie-thing, but I got a lot done today, and have been able to tick off the many items of expenditure on my list of expensive things for University. I went for a McDonalds breakfast around 9.30am. I purchased a sausage and pancakes meal but wasn't feeling risqué enough for a hot beverage, so I settled on a diet coke (watching my 'figure' y'see!). Finally, I got on a bus to Strathy and met Sarah in the courtyard outside the union. I did take a picture of this momentous occasion, but my camera is being a poo and won't let me upload it. (Update: Picture is now up!)

Sun in Glasgow? Yes, it happened...

Then, we made our way to the lecture hall, and I decided, as always, to sit at the back by myself like a proper billy-no-mates. However, the lovely lithuanian, Aida, recognised me from the meeting on Tuesday, and we sat next to each other, and it was really nice. The lecture started with the usual formalities of introducing nice people, explaining courses and general banter. Then, as a special guest, a Dr. from Stanford University gave us a unique insight into his research paper, which required volunteers to test how alcohol affects one's marks. It was quite interesting. And then it got a whole lot more interesting! Suddenly this Dr. starts perfecting the best dance moves since Brent from 'The Office' and starts stripping, ACTUAL STRIPPING. Then the fat suit comes off and he became australian. It really was as simple as that. In all honesty, it was one of the best laughs I've had in a long time, and it's a shame really because that will probably be the best lecture we ever have. Then once that was over, and it was a shame, we were split into our groups, and sent on our 'Orienteering Activity'. I must admit, because we all have the smarts, we worked out the best route, which meant no hills (Yay!) But some of the sheets were annoyingly AWOL, so I will have to catch up about that one. Then, the group and me (who are lovely) went our seperate ways, but not before agreeing to meet up on Thursday at 11am for some coffee! Then I spent the next two and a half hours trying to find the place where I can receive a free hoody. On the way though, a very nice, young chap in the form of 'Colin' had a lovely chat with me (He was from Save the Children okay?) and he gave me a High-Five and commented on my politeness, which always makes me smile for some reason! Eventually, I found it in the end, but the picture is horribly horrific, and it will probably not get used because of it's hideous nature. The free hoody however, is very cosy, and the appealing free pizza offer, seven days a week, is very appealing to one's stomach! Then, I finally made it back home and got changed and went to Grant Ferguson's 18th, which was really, really good!

Normal, Cheesy, Suggestive...

I had a smashing time! Then Devon came home with me, and we ate toast and played with Millie, and then had fun catching her and putting her in the living room, then having to catch her again etc... Tomorrow, we are going to see the psychic lady, should be good hopefully! Devon's asleep now, woops....

Put your hands up if you have a clean box...

Right Now: 'Green Light' - Roll Deep

I would just like to show you something, that took much time and effort. I can't lie, there were points when I didn't think I'd make it to the end, it was a challenging journey, but the sense of achievement that awashed over me when I completed it made it totally worth it!

Empty Email Inbox Mmmmm Minty....

Give me Facebook back and nobody will get hurt...

It's quite unsettling that Facebook is down tonight because it made me realise that I basically live my life on a screen with a fancy blue and white logo. It's quite pathetic, how the 'Service Unavailable' sign upsets me so much. I mean however will I cope without updating my status, or commenting on someone's wall post or if I'm feeling particularly racy, join a few pages?

Not right now, Pfft...

But you know what? Facebook is essential nowadays. Even though, the next generation up complain how we are anti-social just sitting in front of a computer screen, this is sometimes the only way to be social these days. We're all busy, progressing down our chosen paths, so there is hardly any chance to see anyone. Then, if you do go out, everything basically costs money nowadays, and it's expensive (thank you government) and also, the weather is pretty dire up here too (I can't pin this one on the government, no matter how much I want to). So please, facebook, I am pathetically pleading to you, to give me back facebook, so I can spread my wings, as a social butterfly like me would do! Yeah ...

Future Reflections

Right Now: 'Adalia' - Madina Lake

I've waited all day to blog, which I guess is a good thing because it's day two and I'm not bored of it already (The cat one doesn't count). Suffice to say, I had a very unproductive day today. I got up around 2pm, after awaking from the best sleep I've had all week. I also dreamed and I can remember what it is, and I love dreaming so that made me happy! I went downstairs for some toast around 3pm, and got a big shock when I saw Millie. She has like grown majorly in size...since last night! It's kinda creepy, she looks more cat than kitten now. I decided to take her upstairs for a wee exploration and christ, what a bad idea that was! For ten minutes straight, I tried to catch her, but she was darting, running between my legs, and climbing into the most awkward places a cat could ever go in to! When I had finally caught her, I placed her on the table and practically nearly fell over running out of the room and closing the door behind me. And it has just occurred to me that I actually did do something rather productive today. I rang up the hairdressers and I have a hair appointment with a 'hair consultation' beforehand booked for Saturday at 2.45pm and I also, probably more importantly, rang the doctors for the results of my blood test, and thankfully, everything is fine, so basically 4 months of worry is over! So I'm quite a happy chappy today! Esp. since for dinner, mother made a cheese savoury baguette for me, nom! Just tomorrow to look forward to now. Hopefully I will get my loan tomorrow otherwise I am truly screwed when it comes to financial matters and I can wave goodbye to the shopping list in my head! Also, I have the Group Orienteering Activity tomorrow, which could probably be useful and Fraser informed there are lifts, which sweetned it a little! Then with Grant's eighteenth tomorrow night as well, it should be a cracking wee day! Then, Devon is staying over and we're going to see the psychic at 'The Barras' on Saturday morning. I can't lie, I'm quite interested in what she has to say although if she turns around and tells me that as soon as walk out of 'The Barras' I will get hit by a car or something, I will demand my money back before I become the most unamused ghost in the history of the world. But I'm sure everything will go fine, I just feel like I need this, before I begin on Tuesday, like closure or something. In all honesty though, I don't have a clue what she is going to say but if my future involves a mansion, the purchase of the massive Giraffe in Hamleys and retirement aboard a private yacht, then that's fine I guess!

Cat eyes, where did you go?

It seems hard to believe but I have had Millie now for three weeks today, and tomorrow she will be just eleven weeks old. I came down this morning and I swear, she has grown overnight! It's kinda amazing that in just three weeks I have bonded with this animal really well. Yes, she scratches me, claws me, bites me, but with an animal it's totally unconditional love and I really do love her! Although, I am inclined to believe that she isn't really a cat at all, and I am now convinced she is either a dog, a horse, or a combination of the two, therefore a 'Dorse'.  She is a dog because she likes having her belly rubbed, which no other cat likes. She is a horse because she friggin' gallops and jumps hurdles as if she was in the Grand National. She also runs to the side (Kinda hard to explain) like a crab, therefore she is a 'Cradorse' or maybe just in simple terms, a freak, but a very lovable freak at that!

The bowl with holes you drain your pasta with...

I would, if I may, like to bring to your attention one of the many advantages of 'Studentism' (Don't you just love made-up words?)

The amount of free stuff you get basically thrown at you is unbelievable. Whilst waiting in the registration queue (Which I won't go into details on, it was two and a half hours of my life I will never get back), the amount of flyers, leaflets, passes and miscellaneous shit I collected was amazing. I had the equivalent of a small forest in my two bags. So much for joining the Eco committee eh? My favourite freebie I received has to be the Colander.

Bob the Builder anyone?

It serves as a multi-functional object. Yes, it can be used to drain pasta, but also, a stylish hat, or a bucket to keep freebies in (I have used the latter two, but not the first use as of yet, but I'll keep you updated on that). Also, the opportunity to get a free hoody is very appealing, and I shall be looking into this on Friday! However, the amount of things I have signed up for, would rival the Devil and his soul - contract. I honestly have no idea what I have signed up for, so I'm expecting a shitload of emails very soon. Anyway, better not blog anymore tonight, otherwise the novelty may wear off!

Look who is trying the blog thing again...

Oooh excellent, having another bash at the ol' blogging thing. Hopefully, this one will last longer than it's predecessor (Rest In Peace). So what's new? I am now embarking on a whole new journey, a whole new journey into what I like to call, Studentism. I have now left Secondary (Thank God!) and am now a full-time student at the wonderful University of Strathclyde. To say the least, I am loving it, although that is a point only justified by the price of the drinks and Fresher's Week, which is a hoot, to say the least! The headphone disco was actually the best night I have been to in a long time and the Pendulum DJ Set was excellent too. I've also met some great people already, and without being all sentimental, hopefully some future good friends!

I disgust myself sometimes

My first lectures are next week and it'll be grand. However, I will probably have died before I make it to next week, as I'm doing a 'Group Orienteering Activity' around the campus, and as the campus is built on a series of drumlins (or to the non-geographical folk, big mother-fuckers of hills), I will no doubt collapse on one of the said hills, and slowly, tumble down to my death from sheer exhaustion. I'm not being over-dramatic though right? At least today, I was productive enough to fathom the IT systems at Strathclyde, which are very confusing by the way. Anyway, better stop here, Devon want's to read this and I hate to keep her waiting, if you know what I mean!
