#2

Lots happened in my dream last night but here is one part.

There was a raffle and first prize was a body shower gel used by Rihanna. Now, my mum and me were walking down a street when this raffle ticket flew into a hands. The raffle ticket belonged to a very rich old man and my mum and me decided to claim the prize then sell it to him for £986,357. He also asked me to marry him but I said that 'He was Alright'

A Retrospective of the Year

The last day of 2010 has arrived. And thank god in all honesty. This year has been full of the highest of highs and the lowest of lows and I hope never to have a year like it ever again. May was a month that changed everything. It changed my thoughts, my morals and me. Back then, it felt like it was never going to end and all the agony would just keep going and going. But here I am, seven months down the line, a better person and in all honesty, quite happy.

After this year, it has made me determined to make more of my life, grabbing opportunities and experiences as soon as I see them. I have so much to look forward to next year and I want to put all my energy and soul into next year so I can say 2011 was the best year of my life. I will never forget this year. Yes, lots of bad things happened, but lots of good things happened too. I've met new friends, had new experiences and especially the last five months have been pretty awesome. When I look back, I will see 2010 as the year that made me a stronger person and in some ways, I'm thankful for that. I wish it had never happened but what's done is done and you have to make the best of it.

So, my lovely readers, I wish you all a very Happy New Year, we deserve it :)

#1

I think I need some sort of filing system for my dreams. They are beginning to overflow. How should I do it? I think Number 1 would clearly make the most sense in all honesty. Therefore, here is dream number 1!

I was working in a bar of some sort, waiting on tables. I was with another girl who was showing me the ropes. By the time I got out of there, it was gone 11pm and I still had to go to Morrisons garage to pick up my booze. As I did so, Laura's Dad gave me two quid and asked me to buy him raspberry vodka which I did and he said he'd pay me the rest later. I then was driven to the party I was going to, which was at a school of some sort. It was midnight exactly when I got there yet the sun was streaming through the windows. I met up with all my old school pals then finally made my way to Laura and Devon. I was considering wearing a dress and leggings but once I got there, I seemed to change into a swimming costume and started digging out sun cream in my bag (which I was surprised was there) and it was baby sun cream. I then found myself on holiday and Egypt. The middle part of the dream is quite incoherent. My dad and me were in a large bungalow that was like four sides and a massive courtyard (or field) in the middle. Also, there was a bad guy who had been injected with something which made the main bad guy easier to track him. Then someone else injected him with something to neutralize it. Then, Laura decided she didn't want to work at Odeon anymore and neither did Devon so they both went for a travel agent job and I think Laura got it. I joined the agency for a loyalty card but the woman forced me to go on this holiday somewhere and I think it was okay but we had to do a show which included one of our members being catapulted from a sofa and hitting a wall. She was okay though. Then we arrived back from holiday where it was raining and we met up with my MDP tutor who led us the way out.

Wednesday 29 December 2010

'I don't think we're in Kansas anymore' Maybe though...

The Peters Family are on holiday, in an american town of some sort. Funnily enough, our holiday home is like our own house. The entertainment on offer in this town are a theatre where a pantomine is being held and a miniature meerkat village starring the meerkat from Compare the Market. We decide to visit the meerkat village first and our would=be tour guide is none other that John Barrowman. My Dad and John decide that it would be best to forget the tour and we decide to have dinner instead where my mum makes potatoes for us all. It is his dinner before he stars in the pantomine next door and then he asks me what I had for dinner yesterday. I tell him I cannot remember but I had Tzaziki for breakfast. Mmmmm...

It then cuts to walking along a road where there is a traffic jam with Devon, Ellyn, Jill, Laura and Lisa. We are on our way to a gig. There was a main headliner then Paramore, Enter Shikari and Innerpartsystem and it was going to be the best gig ever. Along the way, Lisa started playing songs I didn't know and I was warned not to ask her what it was by Laura because it was Oasis and everyone should know that was an oasis song. We then went into a clothes store where I realised I had forgotten my leggings and my dad tried on a red pair of skinny jeans with black skulls and zips on them. Nice.

Then, I am in a movie. It is about this woman who can control three elements of herself. Her cousin, an artist, is in love with her but she is in love with someone else. It was kind of set in regency times. Then, the director must have called 'CUT' because I went upstairs and we were all having a massive sleepover and talking to each other on MSN and Devon said We should all do something today or tonight.

...

Phew!

Finally, that dastardly countdown is finished. Man, that was painful to finish, mainly because I didn't want to break it with another blog but I have a lot to say! Anyway, I would now like to recount last night's dream.

I was in my house, getting ready for a very important event. I was presenting a slot on BBC's 'The One Show'. It was being shot at Strathclyde Park (next to an imaginary castle) and I had to wear red and be there for 5.30pm sharpish otherwise I would miss my opportunity. Now, my sister was hovering whilst I was trying to get ready and I couldn't find things so I was getting majorly stressed out and started arguing with her. At 10 past 5, I still wasn't out of the house and panic was setting in.

I can't remember anymore so who knows whether I made it or not? However, funnily, I awoke slightly and told my sister how sorry I was for being so nasty, then I went back off to sleep.

See, I am a decent human being after all!

Amy's Best of 2010: Episode Six - 'The Best Photos of 2010'

Welcome to the final episode of Amy's Best of 2010. It's been some ride but now we are on the home run and the light at the end of the tunnel can be seen without the use of a telescope (hooray). The title is rather self explanatory, don't you think?

Amy's Best of 2010: Episode Five - 'The Best Times of 2010'

Okay, probably the penultimate in my series of 'Best Of' for two reasons. One, because I want to blog about my dream last night and two, it is getting awful boring reminiscing about this year, especially one that I would rather forget most of it. However, I am an optimistic old fool and despite swimming in troubled, sewage-ridden (aka, shitty) oceans this year, there have been brief moments of a lifeguard (my analogy rules to be honest). Here they are, in awesome flashback detail!

10. Christmas Night Out
It was really nice spending time with my close knit group of friends over a lovely chinese. Plus the banter between Mark, Jamie, David and me could not be topped anywhere and I was in stitches half the time.
Yes, Mmmm...

9. Grant's Eighteenth
A highly-anticipated event! Probably doing six shots of sourz in two minutes by passing the bottle around until finished was the most impressive act of the night!

8. Work Night Oot
We all got royally pished. It was hilarious seeing everyone absolutely blootered! Plus, our attempt at completing the shot menu was quite successful! Proud Mary will never be heard in the same way again, let's be honest!

7. Lauren's Eighteenth
The event that tickled my tastebuds and introduced me to a love of greek food. Mmm Tzaziki! Plus, Fuzion afterwards was belting as always!

6. Grant's 18th
Probably one of the best parties of the year and I didn't even get that 'Mad With It'. To be honest, I cannot explain why it was so good but it was!

5. Getting Millie
Yes, she scratches and bites the living flesh of me. Yes, she wrecks the house and requires the tree to be taken down prematurely (like two days after christmas). But I absolutely adore her and her wee face and how she snuggles up next to my laptop to sleep. I don't regret getting her for a second!

4. Hanna's Leaving Party
The premise of the event is heart-wrenching. It is awfully upsetting to see one of your best friends move away but the night itself was excellent and the Swedish hospitality is unrivalled by anyone!

3. Prom
The lead up to the event was not good. There were cries of anxiety, people exclaiming it would be shit! I looked awful but the actual event itself (without the limo drama) was amazing! It was (to be) a great send off to the class of 2010!

2. Camping
I don't think anyone (apart from those who went) fully appreciate how much I needed to get away from home and recharge my batteries in St Andrews. I was only there for a full day but it was just nice being in a new place with some just great people and having a good time (all without alcohol might I add!)

1. My Eighteenth
It's extremely biased, I know, but I actually loved my eighteenth. It was a time when I had no worries, just spending quality time with my family and friends. I loved every single minute of it and I would give anything to go back to it.

Amy's Best of 2010: Episode Four - 'The Best Films of 2010'

I'm going to stray from the pathetic-ness displayed in the previous blog and write my top five films of 2010 which should be a bit more interesting!

5. Salt
Madiha persuaded me to see this movie and I'm glad she did. It was rather immense plus you can't beat a bit of Angelina Jolie. The films was filled with so many twists and turns, there were some points were I honestly didn't have a clue what was going on but that was part of the fun!

4. Due Date
Also, another film I didn't really want to go and see but it was hilarious! Maybe I should just let my friends decide what films to see, seeing as they know better than me!

3. Despicable Me
Possibly the cutest film of the year, a good wee movie with laughs and cuteness. The wee minions were awesome and did I mention the movie was extremely cute (in case you haven't wondered, man I am struggling with this list)

2. The Last Airbender
People and reviewers said it was shit but if a movie can make me cry then it's a good one. I really enjoyed the story plus I saw another side to Dev Patel and I enjoyed it.

1. Toy Story 3
How can this not be number one? I waited eleven years for it and it didn't disappoint!

Amy's Best of 2010: Episode Three - 'The Best Dresses of 2010'

Okay, this one might be a little on the pathetic side but I do love my dresses rather a lot. I rarely go to a party wearing jeans and some of the dresses I wore this year deserved to be celebrated in a blog!

5. The Floral One (New Look)
My mum bought it for herself and hated it, so I did the noble thing and took it all for myself. I wore the dress a lot in the summer.

4. The Maxi Dress (New Look)
Do you ever buy something last minute and think you won't like it that much but then you actually love it as soon as you try it on? No? ...

3.The Birthday Dress (Yours Clothing)
The wonders of online shopping eh? I actually haven't worn this dress since, mainly because it's my special eighteenth dress!

2. The Blue Dress (From Dorothy Perkins)
A late entry, I wore this to christmas dinner and it's so pretty! Plus whilst reading OK! I noticed it had actually been featured in some of the pages! WIN!

1. The other blue dress (From Simply Be)
The dress which is like my best friend - reliable in a pickle. If I have nothing else to wear, then this is the back-up plan that never fails. And it was only £15.00! Deserves number one!

I am quite pathetic, aren't I?

Amy's Best of 2010: Episode Two - 'The Best Gigs of 2010'

Okay, so now it is time for the Best Gigs of 2010! I have decided instead of gigs, I will list the ten best live perfomances (seeing as many of the acts that will appear on this list are also support acts).

10. Holy State (Support for Biffy Clyro)
The music wasn't even that outstanding, it was more the fact that the guitarist decided to thrust his way through every song. Man, that guitar was getting it good!
Highlights: The thrusting Guitar man, obviously!

9. Street Drums Corps (Support for 30 Seconds to Mars)
Full of energy, good drums (obviously) and generally a good warm up for the main event!
Highlights: The Drums

8. FACT (Support for Breathe Carolina)
The japanese are both awesome and weird. The music was so damned catchy and the perfomance was epic. Plus, I got to meet them afterwards!
Highlights: The fact I got to meet them! (See what I did there?)

7. Kill Hannah
One of the best birthday presents I have ever received, although they played the only song I really know at the end. Man, I went nuts though!
Highlights: 'Lips like Morphine'

6. My Passion (Support for Kill Hannah)
They were also catchy, and kind of hot! But no, the songs were quite upbeat and even though I hadn't really listened to them beforehand they still managed to put on a good show. Plus the fact I met all of them after the  gig adds to the experience.
Highlights: 'Crazy and Me', 'Day of the Bees'

5. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (Support for Green Day)
I didn't realise how much of a legend Joan Jett is. She is an utter babe who made the gig that night even better (and I didn't know that was even possible). Her songs were amazing and she got the crowd going. She's one of my favourites now.
Highlights: 'Bad Reputation', 'I love Rock and Roll'

4. Biffy Clyro
Last minute tickets were in order for this gig, and despite the fact Lauren and me were in very shitty seating, the gig was still absolutely amazing and it still felt intimate despite the large audience they were playing to. Sheer quality!
Highlights: 'Many of Horror', 'Machines', 'The Captain'

3. 30 Seconds to Mars
They are my favourite band of all time, and when the opportunity came, I grabbed it like a hungry dog with a bone. In all honesty, the only reason they are number three is the fact they are my favourite, and I am incredibly biased but the set list was okay at best and the crowd were just not up for it. The SECC is too big for them methinks.
Highlights: 'Buddha for Mary', 'Closer to the Edge', 'Vox Populi'

2. Blink 182
It was a gig I never thought I would ever see. I thought they would never get back together ever again until Travis Barker had his accident and I correctly predicted that night that they would get back together, and boy, I'm glad I was right! They were honestly immense and they played so many songs! They are an utter machine of a band.
Highlights: 'All the Small Things', 'I miss You', 'The Rock Show'

1. Green Day
How could they not be number one? They are the sexiest band alive and they just ploughed their way through songs. A band who sound better live than on record. Plus Billie Joe is an absolute babe of a man. And I heard Tre sing. And Mike, what a legend. Awww, I could go on about how good it was but it was indescribable!
Highlights: 'Wake me up when September ends', 'Holiday', 'King for a Day'

Amy's Best of 2010: Episode One - 'The Best Songs of 2010'

I did the Best of 2010. Fraser did too. Fraser did it better. I stole his idea (I'd say we were even now). Anyway, here is episode one of my best of 2010. Due to the previous blog, some of these won't be a surprise so I will cover an area I didn't in the previous blogs, my favourite songs of 2010!

10. 'Trophy Eyes' - Youmeatsix
I love the guitar riff in it, quite a powerful sound from the band which kind of strays away from their pop/rock sound, which I love also but this song was the best on the album for me. (From the Album, 'Hold Me Down')

9. 'The Flood' - Katie Melua
Up until now, I have always hated Katie Melua. I hated her hair, it looked stupid. I hated her songs, they were boring. Then, she teamed up with William Orbit and magical things happen. Her hair started to look nice and she started to make really good music. The Flood is an excellent example. (From the Album, 'The House')

8. 'Stay too Long' - Plan B
Rap really isn't my thing, I can't lie. But there is something so contagiously catchy about this song that you instantly get up and dance when it comes on! Tune and a half. (From the Album, 'The defamation of Strickland Banks')

7. 'Good Times' - Roll Deep
It is a bit weird, for a rock goddess like me, to admit my love of Roll Deep but they are actually so awesome. Every song they have released I have liked for some strange reason. When I find the reason, I'll get back to you... (From the Album, Winner Stays On)

6. 'Frisky' - Tinie Tempah
Probably my favourite new artist (WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THE ROCK WITHIN ME?)! You've got to love a bit of Tinie Tempah though, even though I still lapse, I go 'TWISTY'. I love 'Pass Out' and 'Written in the Stars' too but 'Frisky' is excellent! (From the Album, 'Disc-Overy')

5. 'Many of Horror' - Biffy Clyro
Ahh, finally some rocking guitars are back into the list. Words cannot describe how immense this song is. With the violins and Simon Neil's soaring vocals, it just tickles my ear's metaphorical tastebuds a lot. Seeing this song live was a dream come true. (From the Album, 'Only Revolutions')

4. 'On a Mission' - Gabriella Cilmi
How could I forget this song? My first thought was that it sounded very 80's (which for anyone who knows me, is an era I am obsessed about). I liked Cilmi's earlier stuff, it was quite jazzy but I loved this song. It's shame that it never really took off for her after this single. (From the Album, 'Ten')

3. 'OMG' - Usher feat. Will I Am
This was the summer song of 2010. It was the song that filled the dance floor. It is clear to me that Usher is excellent at crafting catchy tunes and Will I Am, Can he do no wrong? (From the Album, 'Raymond Vs. Raymond')

2. 'Tenderoni' - Kele
Bloc Party are an awesome band, no doubt about it, but Kele is the driving force. I can't remember how I stumbled upon this song, but boy, I'm glad I did. It is so catchy and electronic and dancey, even though it makes no sense whatsoever. (From the Album, 'The Boxer')

1. 'Tik Tok Parody' - The Midnight Beast
Complete and utter devotion to this group. The song is nothing but sheer genius, each of the boys have a soft spot in my heart and every song since has never failed to make me laugh or get on my iPod. A well - deserved number one. (From the single, 'Tik Tok Parody')
