Review of 'Due Date'

'Due Date' is the new film released by director Todd Phillips, the man behind the brilliant movie, 'The Hangover'. It stars the very nom, Robert Downey Jr. and the excellent Zach Galifianakis (I did not copy and paste that by the way)!

Plot

Robert Downey Jr's wife is days away from giving birth and whilst flying home to be with her during the birth, he has the misfortune to bump into Zach Galifianakis' character, who is an aspiring actor. Through a series of mishaps, they both end up on the 'No Fly' list and so begins a long, hilarious road trip over America.

Characterisation

In previous reviews, Downey Jr's character has been seen as an umsympathetic figure but I disagree, maybe it's his face, I don't know. Obviously, Galifianakis' character is the one who provides all the laugh, eating at waffle houses even though he is allergic to waffles and stuffing his father's ashes in a coffee tin.

Humour

I buckled at numerous points in the movie, which is always a good sign.

Overall, 'Due Date' was an excellent comedy and the two main leads played well off each other. Also, Galifianakis' performance was his best to date. However, I just don't think it was as funny as 'The Hangover'. Highly recommended though!

8/10

Really funny!
